Sunlight Stalker
I taught I saw a puddy tat
lying in the sun
its golden fur reminding me of grain
as it flowed gently in the wind.
Claws hidden away
ears relaxedly listening
eyes softly closed
as the tiger sleeps
Yet even as he sleeps
he is always acutely aware
the slightest alarm may awaken him.
Then the puddy tat won’t seem so nice,
no longer lie in the sun.
claws will become daggers
ears pointed and flat in fury
eyes alert and piercing
legs set to spring.
I taught I saw a puddy tat
lying the sun
it’s golden fur flowing fields
of temptation to the touch.
But I wisely stayed away
to live another day.
