Lizzie's Story

He was trying to pull my head off of my shoulders
The words stayed in my head for days
It was what her mother had said to her
Describing the night
He had tried to kill his wife
She told me all the terrors of the
that event

His rage filled eyes locked on his wife
Out to hurt her
For what she'd done
Which was nothing in reality
But to him she was against him
He grabbed his daughter's wrist
But years of Taekwondo
Were no match for the amount
Of alcohol in his bloodstream
Or the determination in his head
She quickly got out of his angry grip
And her and her mother ran
They left to save their lives
Before he went to the extreme

She tried to fill in the holes
In her adrenaline filled memories
As she recounted the night to me
I felt so sorry for her

But she had escaped him
Even if only for the moment
She had gotten out
Away from the guiltless monster
That was her father
