Three Little Words
I text you
And you text back
We make plans to meet
And grab a snack
So I work up all my courage
For when we will meet
So I can finally tell you what's on my mind
And not again face my own defeat
I practice in the mirror
And in front of my dog
I can only hope you will hear
When I finally spit it out
Minutes before
The dreaded confrontation
I hope you can't see the look of horror
That is plastered of my face
But once I see you
I know that it is not meant to be
So I act as normal
As is possible for me
Because I know that today's not the day
To tell you and utter the three simple words
I am gay
