Roots

They always say
go home
back to your roots
your beginning

but what if your roots
are dying and broken?
what if your roots
are drug ridden within the family tree

They say your roots
make you, you
shape you to what you are
and will always be part of you

I don't want mine
Mexican drug cartels
nights in jail
family fights gone bad

am i destined
to live by my roots?
broken family
broken roots

Favorite Quote:
“Gods of Olympus.” Piper stared at Leo. “What happened to you?”
His hair was greased back. He had welding goggles on his forehead, a lipstick mark on his cheek, tattoos all over his arms, and a T-shirt that read HOT STUFF, BAD BOY, and TEAM LEO.
“Long story,” he said.”

Very emotional and i can feel your pain through your words. Awesome work!

It's important to love your family, but you never have to become your family. :) Good poem. Deep, real; I could feel it through your words. I know I'm just a stranger and my opinion doesn't matter much, but I'd just like to say that your genes don't define you. There might be a bumpy, gritty start in the road, but you can go wherever you want to to find a better path.
