The thing about philosophy is that it often runs dry when thought of so shallowly.

A King once said to me
To be what I want to be
To pick a colour in the sky
And claim that colour to be mine

So I looked up amongst the clouds
And looking up I began to frown
There was only one colour I could see
Blue, blue, and blue for me

The King snarled from behind
He folded his arms and spoke of pride
He said that I must be blind
To think he’d let me decide

I stayed out there with the King
Feeling him wrongly smirk at me
And then came rain that made me cry
And that damn King laughed at my side

Then; a miracle appeared
A shining rainbow in the clear
The King went silent at the gleam
And in the light my face did beam

I pointed out and claimed it mine;
That beautiful colour in the sky
The King did sigh but did not weep
He let me have my reward to keep

I once had an English teacher who told me to think inside the box while in her classroom.
In response, I wrote an abstract poem.
No shade of grey can stifle your colour.
