His heart thumps.
His hands sweat.

I lick my lips.
I shuffle my feet.

He walks closer,
one step,
two steps.

I lean closer.
Breathe in,
breathe out.

For a moment we stare
at each others
lips
then eyes

His hand on my hip.
Trying not to be awkward.
My hand in his hair.
Trying not to pull at knots.

Then
Lips
Touch

My poem is about a boy and a girl, and their first kiss. I believe it explains kind of perfectly what happens during an awkward first kiss.
