its not your fault
you were born into a world of adversity and fear
its not your fault
you are laughed at for the way you speak and walk and wear
its not your fault
mommy forgets the “I love yous” and daddy drinks too much
its not your fault
children die every day to provide you with clothes and food
its not your fault
people kill and hunt and crave
its not your fault
blades slice the skin
its not your fault
nooses are tied
its not your fault
eyes don’t see and ears don’t hear
its not your fault,
but really it is.
