Interpretation
Music is
 A poem, a memoir, a novel.
 Each song tells another story;
One that I find myself in,
 One that I dream of
 And contemplate
 As the day grows longer
 And the end draws near.

 Music is
 A movie,
 A film.
 The cast changes
 Somewhere down the line,
 Periodically,
 As I grow older,
 Wiser,
 And more accomplished.

 The plot of this movie
 Remains the same
 Until I reach a revelation,
 A new meaning,
 Hidden
 In the lyrics.

 The melody
 Can alter the entire
 Denotation
 Of a song.
 Add guitar,
 And it shows no regret.
 Add piano,
 And it's no longer innocent
 Or painless.
 Take both away,
 And it's an empty page,
 Waiting for your interpretation
 To fill the empty space.
