Happy Place

Take me to that pretty place
The one with all the rainbow skies
Take me to that summer field
Where flowers and fireflies dance
Bring in the light
Let out the breeze
Strip off the plating
And find me some gold
Show me a river that flows so slowly
And sparkles in the sunshine
Find me a shore with soft waves
And warm silky sand
Mute the yelling and the screaming
Make the colors come to life
And make the dark fade away
Play me something happy
With a whistling, skipping tune
Fill the trees with bluebirds
To sing me lullabies
Let me sleep in the shade
Of a giant oak tree
That filters all the pain away
So only sweet dreams find me
Please oh please
Make a happy place for me
Under my pillow or behind the couch
Save the key just for me
Make it small enough for my pocket
Make it big enough for my heart
I'll wear it around my neck
Like a little golden locket
Or keep it in the palm of my left hand
And when the fighting blasts through the window
I'll go there alone
Alone in my happy place
