Unadulterated
When you removed your tongue
From my inner ear and whispered
“Tell me something”
My lips knew only three words
And my heart was too stubborn
To tell you, “I love you”
So forgive me, for never forgiving
Myself
For losing you in the balmy air of spring,
But remember and understand
That while my lips made
Their journey from the nape
Of your neck, to the small
Of your back, they must have
Begged to tell you the truth.
