Back to school,
Where the teachers think I’m a fool,
I try the best that I can,
But sometimes that is not enough.

Back to school,
Where I’m not cool,
I sit alone at lunch,
Pretend not to care as they stare.

Back to school,
Where no one listens to the rules,
Kids call each other names,
Push, Hit, Shove.
Teachers turn a blind eye.

Back to school,
Where some kids are so cruel,
At times heartless to those around them.
I don’t understand,
Why they won’t let a hand
To those around them when they need it.

Back to school,
Where every day is a duel.
To make it through,
To try my best,
To ignore the shoves,
To ignore the comments,
But it’s hard sometimes.

Back to school,
It’s sophomore year,
Perhaps things will be better.
I walk in hopeful,
Maybe it will be my year.
It’s back to school,
But how can I make this year better?

Sometimes it will get better, but sometimes it doesn't. Perhaps it will one day.
