"If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain" ~ Emily Dickinson

Sometimes I wish I were,
a butterfly-
Beautiful and feminine and dainty,
to the eye-
Free to flutter on a summer's breeze,
free to fly-
To escape and flee from those who hurt,
just myself and I-
And sail the wind to peace and rest,
to paradise.

The author's comments:
Nearly all my poetry is written in a standard four-line, evenly metric, almost musical verse. This was my first experiment with anything different. I sort of like the imperfection in this piece.
