Sturdy,
clothed in pompous evergreen,
waiting, arms outstretched,
for weary travelers to sit
once they’re tired of the world
Don’t ask for much, just
A little companionship,
Light frames your dark
Bowed legs, that stand
Forever
In want of someone
To help with the tired passage of time.
Always giving, a family antique
Serving other peoples’ needs
and yet still your own
for the moment, timeless
a little light does enough
for a while
but soon you want
a person’s comfort
yet none help you.
No-one likes
old
anymore.
On the curb,
next to evergreen garbage can
curved figure ever-waiting
for someone to love
