Let's Play Pretend
Let’s play pretend
We’ll act like I can’t feel
You can focus on yourself
Forget my pain is real
I’ll force all of my smiles
Pretend like I don’t care
I can fake all of my laughs
As I lose the feelings we shared
We were made for each other
That’s what you told to me
But you’re no longer that person
Not like the way you used to be
You changed on the inside
On the part that counts
I don’t want to listen anymore
Not your words or your shouts
What happened to all of our memories?
Are they all meaningless to you now?
It’s like they’ve all turned to dust
And we’ve become strangers somehow
I can still remember it
That happiness you made me feel
But I don’t feel it anymore
Nothing left is real
We are broken
Destroyed beyond repair
We need to end this now
As hope turns to despair
I can’t continue feeling it
The anger and the pain
You used to be my sunshine
And now it's all just rain
These are just words on a page to you
Not the emotions that you’ve caused
Because I can’t feel, remember?
So let’s put this game on pause
No more pretending
I’m tired of being fake
We’re over now
Perhaps it was all a mistake
