The New World
I see the frown behind that smile
I see the tear behind that sparkle
I see you’re scared underneath your toughness
I see the love behind the hate
Look closely and you will, too
I see the devil slowly defeating the angel
I see the world swiftly shatter to pieces
I see innocent souls depart, and evil ones rejoice
I see parents try to find means to survive
While kids are finding ways to adapt
The New World, is it really that good?
Struggling, fighting and simply trying to survive
This country they call “Golden” only applies to some
While the others come across as aliens- trying hard to belong
From what I’ve seen throughout my evanescent life
This world is simply corrupt
