My heart races, as I think about yesterday.
How awful I was.
I knew it was the only way.
Because if I told you what I really thought,
I knew you would stay.
I never wanted you to leave,
but I knew you should go away.
It was everything you always wanted.
How could I tell you to stay?
I had always heard love was selfless.
So for me to be so selfish,
I knew there was no way.
It pained me as you left,
but maybe one day that hurt will go away.
Maybe like you left you'll return to say.
You are a selfless person,
and you're here to stay.
