Target Applications (and Other Hurtful Things)
Today I filled out a Target application,
and some of the questions puzzled me.
Why does Target need to know if I am happy?
Or optimistic.
I can't tell them that I hate myself,
There is no box for depressed teenager.
So I lied,
Like I do everyday.
To my mum,
and her boyfriend when they see my scars.
Can I only get a job if I'm happy?
Because I don't want to be jobless that long.
So thank you Target,
for making me think about why I am not happy,
and that there is a hole in my chest cavity.
But one day I hope to see the question,"Are you content with life?"
and not want to pick up a razor.
