heartsong

i have never really understood myself
better than when i have no idea at all
it's being tossed into a pool
teeming with little fish like me
and having to remember how to swim
that really makes me feel alive
it's summer that makes me remember
summer and heartsong
and the sun burning as we laugh
and the stars rippling as we sing
it's the only way i remember to survive
