monsters under the bed

As the darkness slowly seeps in
The growth of fear ignites within

Swallowed by the shadows of night
Under blankets, huddled tight
My teddy bear, my humble knight
bravely defends without a fright

I slowly drift to the far away land
Alone, with no one to hold my hand
The view of horrors; it just expands
My presence is something they cannot stand

A peaceful night, impossibly rare
As I get to my feet they all stare
Why do I always end up right there
The seems of my sanity are beginning to tear

Faster and faster I try to run
Honestly it just adds to their fun
I push forward but I'm nearly done
Its beginning to seem as though they have won

Tears are streaming from my eyes
Out slip a few choked up cries
Why am I doomed to be terrorized?
I wish to be saved by sunrise

Those monsters from under the bed
They've somehow invaded my head
I close my eyes tight and all I see is red
I fear it's happened I'm truly dead

I'm not prepared to die being only fourteen
But wait my fate may not be as grim as it seems
I release everything in a powerful scream
With that I realized it was simply a dream

Although they're tucked away for now
They'll find a way back in my head somehow

Great! Somehow, you've made a child's nightmare into a fantastic poem-and that's what makes a good poet. Amazing job! Please read, rate, and comment on my poems! Thanks!
