Innocence
I wonder what it’s like,
To feel so alone,
The pain you feel inside of you,
That never seems to fade.
The pressure that’s put on you,
To hide it from them all,
To smile on the outside,
So they’ll never know the truth.
Every night you lay in bed,
Wondering what you’ve done wrong,
But in reality,
You’re not the one to blame.
That monster that took
The innocence from you,
Is lurking around,
Free to do it to someone new.
You want to tell,
But are afraid of what’s next,
Will he be off the hook?
And come back to get you again?
You never know…
So you hide it from everyone,
Even try to forget it yourself,
But it lingers by your side,
With every step you take.
Tears begin to stream down your face,
What an awful place to be,
When you’re only 13…
