Masks
When the front door shuts behind me
So does the door to my heart
Pull out the masks
Time to start the charades
Paint that smile across
Quivering lips
Paste happiness over
Tear stained eyes
Clear my mind
Erase my soul
Take a deep breath
And exhale all emotion
As I walk into a mass
Of smiling faced people
Hugging and laughing
I join them in joy
Fake joy
I laugh and joke
Fake laughter
Fake joking
But sociable, nonetheless
Jumping around in this circus
Of friends
Fake friends
But friends, nonetheless
The bell rings
Quiet in the halls of noise
But it pierces my ears
Happy faces swarm to class
Happy?
I wonder if they wear masks too
