white-washed walls
the sound of an ambulance wailing
desperately, frantic to save a flickering soul
the burning, rancid smell of cleaning fluid
rubbery fake leather
and scalpels resting on tables like guns
To the ER!, someone yells
there’s a rush of white coats
a cough
a wheeze
a sigh
then nothing
Another candle gone out
