We used to be one, but now we couldn't be any further apart.
I've taken a road that has brought us to the opposite ends of the world.
You took the path that led you to your past,
but I was forced to do something new.
I used to like to think about what we could have been,
but then it dawned on me and in reality,
"us" scares the crap out of me.
Maybe that's why it was so hard to let you go,
I never truly let all the unconscious fear and pain show.
It wasn't love like I thought it was.
I thought I was drunk, but it was only a buzz.
Now I'm sober and I can clearly see,
those old memories of "love" laugh at naive me.
It's time to grow up, it's time to laugh back.
I'll be the first to admit my feelings were wack.
I'm glad that it's happened though
and I'm glad that I've learned.
I've had my time,
I've rejoiced and I've mourned.
I have a light in my future,
I'm allowing my soul to break free,
and now I can finally reclaim the happiness that was hidden in me

Love hurts, but I hope that other teenagers can read this and mend their broken hearts. I want people that have been hurt to read this and find the strength inside of them to smile and move on.
