Momma
Momma, don’t leave me just yet
Come relieve those days when I was young
When I was still your blonde baby boy
The times you’d doctor up my “boo-boos”
When you’d hold me close to comfort me
Those early morning fishing trips
The colorful bluegills
That sickly rainbow trout in the river,
Whose scales glisten underneath the trickingling water
Momma, don’t leave me just yet
What about that camping trip
Just you, me, and the rotten egg smelling water,
In the old log cabin
And those multicolored lollipops,
When you ere manager at Western Steer
Grape flavoring still makes my mouth water
Or that red bike you bought me
I tried throwing it away,
Beacause I wanted me training wheels back
Momma don’t leave me just yet
Come relieve those days when I was young
You’d sing to me
“ You are me sunshine, my only sunshine.”
“We’re not gonna take it, no, we’re not gonna take it, we’re not gonna take it, any more.”
That’s who I miss, that momma
The one that used to be so, so,
Alive, carefree, so wonderful, my momma
Now I’m gonna tell you this once more
So listen closely, okay?
Momma, don’t leave me just yet
