At the Top

At the top of the world, where hearts were full,
And the sun would only rise,
Lived a girl and a boy with love-filled eyes,

They would look upon the landscape,
And dream, and laugh and love,
As the sun would never cease rising up above,

Until one day the world shook,
And suddenly silence fell,
The boy was to depart for war, a living hell,

At the top of the world, where hearts only break,
And the sun always sets,
Lived a girl without her lover, filled with regrets.
