Dreams are true while they last, and do we not live in dreams?

I never thought,

I’d be one of those girls.

You know the kind.

I wasn’t always this way,

I thought I was pretty,

I thought I was amazing.

I thought I was brilliant,

I thought I was brave.

I thought I was popular,

I thought people loved me.

I thought I loved myself,

I thought a lot of things,

But that was then and this is now.

I never thought,

I’d be one of those girls.

You know the kind.

I only cry when I’m hurting,

Just like when I was young.

But back then,

It was from falling off my bike.

But now,

It’s the kind a Band-Aid can’t fix,

Because it’s a hurt that can’t be
seen.

I use to beg for help,

But then I realized something,

When you need someone to listen,

No one wants to.

I never thought,

I’d be one of those girls.

You know the kind.

People always say I’m skinny,

Sometimes even say I’m pretty.

So why don’t the mirror show that?

So why don’t I see that?

Why do I see a shell of a girl?

Why does it feel like I’m the only
one?

When I know I’m not,

But still

I never thought,

I’d be one of those girls.

You know the kind.

The kind that hate themselves.

That think that they’re fat,

When they’re not.

That think that they’re ugly,

When they’re not.

That wish to break the mirror,

Because it hurts too much.

That fakes smiles every day,

So no one sees the pain.

So no one knows,

That they’re one of those girls.

I never thought,

I’d be one of those girls.

You know the kind.
