The shining stars leaned over
And whispered their timeless secrets to me
My ear grew three times its normal size so it could hear
I ran quickly through the grassy meadow
The flowers greeted me kindly
I stopped and shook their green stems
The dark forest howled angrily
I skipped toward it, blissfully unaware
Quietly, the shadows swallowed me
I opened my mouth to scream, but it was too late
I gently twitched as I lay on the cold forest floor
No one was there to shut my eyes
The shiny red balloon slipped from my pale hand
It rose ever upward, as did the stars
