"Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?" -OP

America is the greatest country in the world,
if you don't mind capitalism,
a "free" market,
handing the richest 1% 90% of the nation's wealth.
Where freedom is bought, not given.
And one's ethics and morals mean s***,
as long as you can sip on your double mocha espresso frappe,
with a sprinkle of cinnamon, just the way you like it.

America is the greatest country,
If you don't mind anti-intellectualism,
where "Larry the goddamn Cable Guy" is seen as a role model,
and the scientists at Google and NASA are "nerds".
Where a burnt flag is treason,
and "God Hates Fags" is free speech.
Where teenagers are more interested in last night's episode of "Jersey Shore",
than they are in intergalactic space exploration.
Where we're taught what to think,
not HOW to think.

America is the greatest country,
If you don't mind religious persecution.
"One Nation Under God", "In God We Trust", "So Help You God",
A nation where politics is controlled by faith,
and the "god vote" is the only real vote.
Where the brainless mind-controlled zombies do as they are told,
if only commended by the mouth of a preacher.
Where a rejection of science is just "god's word",
and your entire ideological standpoint is based on fear.
Where logic, reason, and free thought are thrown out,
in favor of blind faith.
Where questioning the absurd is blasphemy,
and we're just told to drink the Kool-aid.

America is the greatest country,
If you don't mind military-crazed fanatics.
Where 40% of our budget is on "defense" spending,
and we spend more on a military,
than the next nineteen countries on the list.
Where $350 billion is too much to educate our children,
but $1.7 trillion is necessary for our war fund.
Where pride comes from how many nukes we own and how many people we can kill,
not from how we can help the world.
Where we shun those that speak their mind,
but praise our butchers in uniform.

America is the greatest country,
if you don't mind ignorance.
If you don't mind living "free",
yet slaving for fortune 500 companies.
Where it's acceptable to sit back, do nothing,
and have an "I don't know and I don't care" attitude,
yet get upset when things don't go your way.
Where the extent of political activity is clicking on an online petition,
yet we only complain about what is wrong.
Where we don't want to pay taxes,
we don't want to work,
and we don't want to let go of even a fraction of our fat wallets,
yet we expect everything.
Where we go home,
sit down on our La-Z-Boys,
Watch 2000 channels on our 52" plasma screens,
eat our three-course steak dinners,
all while a starving ethiopian watches,
and we still don't have enough.

America is the great greatest country,
if you don't mind injustice.
Where Andrew Fastow is sentenced to one year in community jail,
for swindling $100 billion through a corporate scandal,
yet a civil citizen gets 6+ years in prison for drug possession.
Where we look past those with money,
yet suppress those without.
Where justice is based not on the crime,
but on the color of the committer.
Where the police are not paid by the city,
but by the criminals.

America is the greatest country,
If you don't mind a horrible energy policy.
If you want to swim in sludge,
and you want to breathe poison.
where corporations can buy rights to pollute,
at the expense of the people.
Where our rivers and waterways are toilets,
and our forests are garbage dumps.
where we reject clean energy,
in favor of offshore drilling.
Where an oil spill is just a "mishap",
but solar panels are an atrocity.
Where we allow oil to control our lives,
yet complain that it costs so much.

America is the greatest country in the world,
we have plenty to eat,
we have shelter,
we have medicine and doctors,
some slight opportunity,
we have enough safety,
and government that will get us by,
and we have all that we need,
but why do we have to suffer,
to reach so far below our potential,
and accept that it's out of our power to change,
while we sit on our fat asses,
and rant our idiotic rants,
when all we need is a spark of thought,
to ignite a revolution.

This is my little rant about America. I just wrote without stopping, so I hope there's others out there that feel the same way that I do.
