My Brother

Looking into a world of difference

But you stay your own

You repair cars like everyone

Knew you were born to

Tough and stubborn,

But you eventually get over it

Pizza and wings for dinner…

I’m in you say

Soaking up all the good

And bad experiences to use later

Battle scars are visible,

But you pass them off as just bruises

Working your way up the life ladder

With your family behind you

When we get deeper inside we see

The loving heart you’re afraid to put out in the world

But you know that other people will lend

Their heart to you

My Brother

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem for my brother for a homemade Christmas gift. I was planning on giving it to him Christmas morning but he passed away during his sleep Christmas Eve and I never got to give it to him. I got some kind of closure when i read it at his funeral.
