An eye with no pupil has no need to blink
"Instill in me light", one eye might scream
And the other sits in anguish
Anguish of no birds to compose a morning musical
And of nothing to embrace that is warm
All the while, the hopeful eye is searching for a miracle
Perhaps in hope of a messiah whom may never come
Or to find an eye of spirit alike to herself
Depression increases in her partner
He hopes for death
Most certainly in the form of a shard of glass
Even an acid would be most pleasurable
"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day"
Is of no significance to him
As his opposite, Abigail, finds the sun
Light spills in from the doorway
He is shocked to find Abigail a sloth
And asks politely, "Please, shut the door.
Now that I have seen 'it', I don't find much pleasure."

The author's comments:
I was watching a recent mini-series on Treasure Island, which featured Elijah Wood playing the crazed, abandoned, man on the island. He was looking up toward the sky, at the sun, and I couldn't see his pupils and I just went that idea of not being able to "see" and of disappointment when it may not be as you expected it to be.
