I never told you I love you.
I never told you what you mean.
And now its almost too late.
Now I know it was a mistake.
I shouldn't have wait.

Before you walk away,
Before I can forget your name,
Before you can forget I exist.
I need to say...

You've been there since the beginning.
You've always cared.
Since that day we met almost by accident.
I need you to know that,
forever when I see your face or hear your name I'll remember.
All the time.
The smiles.
The laughs.
The hugs and promises filled with hope.

I need you to know this even though you love her.
And I love him.
He wont erase the scars you left me with.
I don't want him to.

Because unlike you,
I don't want to forget.
I want to remember happiness.
I want to remember the safety you gave me in the darkest days of my life.

I want to remember you.

The author's comments:
I wrote this at 9 at night while driving home from a vacation with my friend and her family. I had been sitting in the backseat of the van about to fall asleep when I thought of my old friend from last year, Ryan. I instantly thought of this and typed in on my phone. When I was done Emilie, her little sister Madison and Madison's friend Lily all read it and loved it. Emilie has a printed copy hanging on the wall of her room she loved it so much.
