My Self-Loathing
It lives inside of me.
The beautiful girl,
The b---h from high school,
Who always hated me.
It’s funny she looks just like me,
That’s because she is me.
She hates me and I hate me.
And not for the usual reasons, mine are twisted and distorted.
I hate myself because I say I care
About things like world hunger and women’s rights,
And yet when I get up in the morning I start by fixing my hair and putting on- makeup.
I am a phony, Holden Caulfield would hate me.
And I love him so.
My being is crushed from the inside out
Because the sickness begins within.
The Phoniness claws its way out from inside, and makes me one through and- through.
