In a world where
terrible is a standard
and greed comes
with every passing moment

We see malice and jealousy
light up the sky
as if they are something
to be praised

We’re all fooled
no matter how hard
we try to resist
we conform

But there is one
who stands strong
One who defies it all
and rises above

One who maintains
purity, innocence
and above all else
hope

Despite the circumstances
he has
a heart of gold
that is unbreakable

It seems
as if good
will always reign
above evil

And that the meek
will inherit the earth
For after all
that’s what we are,
aren’t we?
