White Monster
You’ve been living on my face for over a year
You white monster
You attack me when I look in the mirror
And you ruined my 13th birthday
The doctors try to make you go away
And very slowly,
I can tell it’s working
but it’s not working fast enough
People question me all the time
“What’s that on your face?” they’ll say
“Vitiligo” I answer
and their response is “Viti-what-go?”
Those people may have a bundle of questions they’d like to ask
but I only have one.
What did I do to deserve this?
YOU MADE ME UGLY!
YOU MADE ME CRY!
YOU BURNED ME!
YOU MADE PEOPLE STARE!
YOU MADE IT HARD TO SHOW MY FACE!
SO NOW FINALLY YOU’RE LEAVING….
BUT WAIT! Don’t go so soon
I take it back
You made me beautiful
You gave self confidence
When you burned me I knew it just meant you were slowly leaving
People stare because I glow with boldness
And now that you’re almost gone
I’d like to thank you
I have changed for the better because of you
