The tightly stretched pink
glints in the light of the spot.
The soft creak of the stiff, strong, soles
as they bend to fit my arch;
The greasy, dirty, smelly lines that display
the hard hot work of my feet;
The greasy, dirty, smelly lines that mar
the fresh grey leather;
The battered box and shredded toe,
the loose stretched ribbon,
and the tired taut elastic,
of a well worn,
well worked
shoe.
