The Ship
I’m on a ship,
Wind blowing,
Pelicans cawing,
Salty air.
I look up,
Blue sky,
Clouds passing by,
White and fluffy,
A huge mast overhead.
Ship’s captain,
Steers the ship,
To our destination,
Old and rugged,
Wise and experienced.
I stare off,
Into the horizon,
I see the sun,
Dropping into dusk,
Burnt oranges and deep reds,
Break upon the water.
The early evening becomes night,
The world slows down,
I gaze upon the stars,
I’m on a ship.
