A Parting Farewell

With silent solitude,
I bid thee farewell,
A necessary good,
Rings with the death knell,
Fie, upon the day we fell,
I will not see you again,
In happiness or pain.
Take care of thy heart,
For that is all I never had,
Remember my essential part,
In dreams you never saw,
You were my greatest flaw,
The thing I could not regret,
The apology I could not forget.
I bid thee farewell,
With silence and a smile,
Alas, our story ended,
Before it even began,
I would stay awhile,
If we ever were true.
May we never meet again,
In happiness or pain.
