The smell seeps up a flight of stairs and into my room
I am immediately taken back to my elementary school days
Sizzling stove top
Grease jumping out of the pan

Dad creates my breakfast
Before I am off to walk into Mrs. O' Kelly's class
Cursive is being learned today

Crunchy, crispy, crusty
The greasy strips placed on my plate
Immediately I indulge

The orange juice flushes it down
The heavenly taste has been taken over
I ask for more
At this point calories do not exist
I am now a careless, kid in a candy shop

But this time
I'm not a kid
The bacon is grabbed by my own hands
The elementary morning memories remain
Sizzling on the pan and the taste in my mouth

Going away to school next year will not be the same without my dad. He is always willing to get up and make breakfast for me.
