Seppuku

Silence files away at you,
Fighting the fire of fear that’s building.
Outside you’re a mess, scared, nervous.
Thoughts cloud your head,
Worry nips at your toes.
Your nails and your teeth meet,
In an epic cycle of vice versus disgust.
Suddenly memories flood you,
Warm beaches, water tickling your toes,
The sun beating against your back,
Laughter ringing in an iridescent melody.
A siren’s scream snaps you back to reality,
Speeding cars, towering buildings,
bustling pedestrians, ignorant and selfish
Never will they know your pain, your agony
Alone, afraid, given up on
The silence engulfs you once more,
You close your eyes and step forward,
You let it all go.
