The Cage You Need
The walls sag to the side
under a great weight, smelling of
Old paper, sorrows, and vomit.
The floors steep and short-
Snake out in every direction like
an old transit map.
Contain and Conceal you.
You are lying in wait,
Like a predator watching its prey.
Every day, night, month, year until
they collide and mix together.
An unending period of time,
Stretching to the point of eternity-
You are caged like an animal,
Starving for delicate folds of skin and the ripe scent of fresh blood.
Hungry-
Sick; An animal,
Wanting to be free and wild,
but needing a master to
keep you tame.
