Need For Speed
I want to fly across the water, skipping over the waves, going so fast that even the smallest insects feel like a dagger being driven into my skin.
I want a maniacal giggle to works it's way up from my chest and burst through my lips, parted in a fierce smile.
I want the wind to be rushing by my ears so loud it obliterates any chance for conversation, and the spray splashing on us seems to crystallize in the air and then appears to explode against my skin.
I want my troubles and worries to be left in the wake, and my heart to beat so fast with excitement that it might burst from my chest.
But we turn, and heading back to shore, I am reminded of what it feels like to be grounded, to have that feeling swept away, held in my heart until the next time I can fly on the water.
