The tears that carve a rugged road
Down my long and dusty face

They twist and they turn
Until suddenly they drip into space
A place that we have never know

I wonder where my tears they go
I wonder what adventures they had today
I wonder if they saw a steady wave
I wonder if they rode a hilly plain

I wish I knew where all tears they went
When they were done carving their grooves

DO they have mama’s praying for them?
Do they have Daddy’s waiting for them?
Do they brothers always teasing them?
Do they have sisters who play with them?

I know I cry and blame myself
But the tears they see another self
They see the long and dusty face
And remember the days when they were held

With promises of love
And with gifts of beauty
They covered them all with gods own beauty
But on that day they said good day

To those they loved
To those they cherished
They said goodbye and set assail
On a boat that didn’t prevail

Oh my tears I wish to go back
To trace the time and settle back
To the days that were lost
On that last sally

Days when everything was good
Days when everything seemed calm and quiet
Days where mothers danced with their boys
And fathers sang with their girls

Oh my tears I wish I was there
Oh that lovely day
Where everyone stayed
And had themselves a merry day.
