"You know they say there's always someone worse off? I'm that person!" - Crow

Within the wide walls of the convenience store
You stared, wide-eyed, into his eyes
Like a child discovering a new experience.
He saw what you saw; the enemy
On the Long Island road, and before him he showed
The sleek, black body of a .45
That pointed itself at this enemy
And the gun in his hand, he made his stand
The trigger fell back as his finger commanded
A solitary shot; his target fell to the floor
You were stunned, your mouth gaping wide open
You played the witness to another murder
The murder of the dove with the olive branch

This is a piece I wrote for a school assignment. The assignment was to create a poem based off a scene from the movie "Freedom Writers". I chose the convenience store scene where the Cambodian was murdered.
