The Ride
walk to the shoot
hearts pounding with nervousness
put on your best spurs and chaps
clink clink clink
the sound of your spurs hitting the ground
you say one prayer before you get on
mine was please let me walk outta here
after that they bring your bull from the pins behind the shoot
he eyes you as if you were his lunch
the announcer calls your name
your ready to ride
sitting as brave as a war hero your on
tighten your rigging
lift one hand up
then you give the signal to open the shoot
and as fast as lightning the bull spins
but wait your foot’s stuck between the bars
your hanging from your foot
watching as the bull walks away with dignity
