"Opportunity does not knock; it presents itself when you beat down the door." -Kyle Chandler

And all my ambitions can go to waste,
books of knowledge to burn:
firewood, crackling in the deeps.

Let us toss out our cares,
litter the forest floor with burgeoning aubergine.
The green's children we shall be.
Grass stains and I am complete...
Our path, crunching over leaves...

A bed of boughs made before us,
lazy love and shade of my heart:
bonfire, crackling in the deeps.

The author's comments:
I wanted this piece to emanate warmth, in every sense of the word. I chose autumn imagery to reflect a more refined warmth, rather than something histrionic. Mostly, it was my way of saying to someone, "my love for you is as deep as the aubergine of that tree's leaves."
