He was mad
As he heard the news
Sad
he had the blues
She told him she gave in
They both knew
It was a sin
I didn’t have anyone
Friend or foe
It was very long ago
The day you went away
The day you said you couldn’t stay
I became lonely and confused
Till I heard the song the suitor
Mused

He swept me away with a song
a kiss
I always thought yours too I would
Miss
But that day
That old man came
I knew it was you
Your scent your stance
It had to be true
So before you decide
To punish me so
Remember
I did wait all those years ago

The main focus of my poem was to give a spin to the original ending of The Odyssey. I imagined that Penelope married one of the suitors instead of waiting for Odysseus to come home.
