The Spark Inside Me

Where did the fire go?
the excitement, the spark
of when I was young
colors surround us
as we laughed and smiled
flashes of blue, pink, yellow and green
I now stare into the darkness
shades of grey everywhere
like a shield to protect
everyone from being different
I see the future
bright and exciting
full of color
with happy music
I see myself walking past
the dark grey shadows
into a place of more color
more freedom
