Mother sing a sweet slow song
Rock your baby gently to sleep
Calm their tears and lift their sorrows
With your crisp cool lullaby

Tell yourself that you have done right
As you drift back into his arms
Mount him as your told to do
Thrusting amidst his Bourbon breath

Sweaters, lipstick, thick glass shades
Can cover up those purple kisses
Greeted with fresh cut flowers
His loving rage drifts happily out of sight

The smells of dinner
Mask the foreign perfume
A glass of wine, a beer or two
And the blaze flickers through his eyes

Tuck your babies in tonight
Do not let those wimpering screams espace
When fist and face and concrete combine
And walls can muffle the deadly intent

Waking eyes are greeted with nightmares
Let sleep come, and huddle limpy in his arms
Just sing to yourself
That sweet slow song
