The feel of your course curly hair as it tickles my cheek when you rest your head
sleepily on my shoulder.
The little crooked smile you give me as you let out a puff of smoke while we talk easily
at the end of my driveway.
The intensity of your ocean blue eyes looking deep into me as silent tears fall down your
face because you are speaking of the ones you miss the most.
The perfect way your hand fit in mine while we walk and fall asleep. They are
permanently stained with a tinge of dirt and rough texture from hard work.
The overwhelming smell of you that makes me dizzy to inhale. I struggle to describe it
because it is one that only you possess.
The adorable way your face scrunches as you laugh of experience something great. It’s
a look I could always recognize immediately and know that it was sincere.
The surge of energy that washes over me when your thin, warm lips collide with my
skin. The world around me seems to completely disappear.
The deep shade of tan your skin turns under the summer sun as you work long and
hard until it sets long behind the hillside.
The sense of belonging as my body shakes and shudders against your bare chest. I
take a step back to find my tears stained your skin and a giggle escapes my lips.
The endless love you show my mother and sister. That genuine care of yours that
shines through when you tell Tanah you will always protect her no matter what.
The snarl you give me if I dare wake you without a peace offering of breakfast. If not
then you disappear right under those blankets again like a grumpy child.
The relentless laugh of yours when you do something you probably shouldn’t be doing
and yet they always seem to make the best memories.
The cry of help you used to send me whenever some girl screwed up by losing you. It
secretly made me happy knowing that I was your constant.
The determined way your body moved because someone made the mistake of messing
with you and now they will have to face the consequences.
The strong way you have with words. Whether it is to make a point or just say a word of
kindness. People trust you because of this.
The reassuring way you can make people feel in even the toughest situations. You take
things on that you know you can’t handle to make things easier for them.
The steady rhythm of your heart beat as I rest on your chest. It makes me never want to
move away or lose that sense of safety.
The usual attire of yours that always includes boots that you can’t take off without my
help and your Carhartt’s that I absolutely love on you.
The nervous way you start to bite the inside of your cheek or lip when something
becomes stressful. If it gets even worse you bite your nails.
