Melded
I hear your whispers in every corner of this house
and I feel your voice following me with every step
Your words still fall out of your mouth
for only me to catch
And you still wrap your breath
around my name like only you can
So I whisper back and tell you how our room stares at me
taunting me and reminding me
Of the last time you tucked me in
and watched me fall asleep just so I’d feel safe
And I tell you how I thought I’d never say
that you and me could ever have a last kiss
But you respond in riddles that I can’t decipher
without your eyes there to look back at mine
So I keep the conversation running because
I can’t exist without the other half of me
And only through your words
do I get as close to whole as I can be
